"Tara Lodge is a hidden gem. The area around the lodge is very rundown, dirty, graffiti, etc. but it was safe and the hotel itself was very well maintained inside. The room had every amenity you need and the staff was excellent! Tara is also located near Queens University and the Ulster museum. Many restaurants in the area and we even walked to central Belfast and the Titanic Experience. Great location. Excellent custom breakfast as well. Highly recommend if you can get past the surroundings....

"Great to have a spacious room with well stocked kitchenette, king bed. Seating area with couch & table & chairs. Great modern bathroom. Spare decor but fine. Laundry room a bonus after touring around for 10 days. Fresh milk in fridge, too. Could use 2 luggage racks so suitcases wouldn’t have to be on couch or floor. Nice staff & very minimal lobby but thought it was a great hotel. "

"We were celebrating our 33rd Wedding anniversary and had 3 nights at Kilkyhevlin. The weather was fabulous & we got to see the Aurora Borealis - but the climate control in the rooms is non existant. We did have a fan in our room, but this did not really cool the place down. Apart from this discomfort we did enjoy our trip & the food was gorgeous. "

"Like staying in a castle! The stone building is around 350 years old. I was prepared for it to be cold in the room with the slate floor but I was perfectly comfortable. However, there were heaters there to use if needed - including a heated towel rack in the bathroom! No breakfast included which suited us since we had an early flight out of Belfast. Everything is provided to make nice cups of tea. This will be our most memorable stay of the 2 weeks on the island. Lots of lovely character! "

"All was good except got food poisoning from supper meal. Had Chicken sandwich with salad so the chicken or the hard boiled egg was bad. I know it wasn’t the lettuce as I shared the lettuce with my husband and he did not get sick. Also disappointed no free refill on my soda. Breakfast looked lovely but didn’t dare eat for fear I was not fully recovered from the night before."
